Hurricane Matthew is currently a category 3 hurricane approaching the Bahamas. The storm is located about 170 miles ESE of Nassau. Winds are sustained at 115 mph with higher gusts.
Hurricane Matthew will move north into the Bahamas Thursday and possibly strengthen again to category 4. Dangerous hurricane Matthew is expected to be very close to the east coast of Florida near West Palm Beach late Thursday night into Friday morning.
It’s eye will have a hard time coming a shore but may hug the coast for many hours into Friday morning with gusts over 100 mph.
Matthew is a very dangerous and possibly devastating storm for the Florida coast from West Palm Beach to Daytona. A Hurricane Warning is in effect from Golden Beach to Flagler Beach.
The track of the storm will hug the coast of Georgia and Carolina’s through the weekend. Confidence level is high the approaching trough will not capture Matthew for a journey north. Instead, Matthew is likely to meander off the southeast coast of the US into early next week.
New England weather is looking quite nice for the long holiday weekend. Scattered showers are possible at some point Saturday with the passage of a front, but no organized rain is expected. The dry stretch continues here in the northeast.
